In my karate school, we have a Code of Ethic that says, ” I will give so much time to the improvement of myself that I will have no time to criticize others”.
It is easy to criticize and point out the faults of another person, and sometimes a challenge to see the good in another. When you criticize another person, what is your intent? To make yourself feel better? To make that person feel bad? To gain approval from others? To produce positive change in that person? To simply complain? When you are about to speak of another person, ask yourself “Is it positive”, “Is it true”, and “Is it necessary”.
You will find, for the most part, that what you are about to say about another person isn’t even necessary, and won’t change a thing. There are bad people in the world, and you may not want to be kind to a person who is rude or hateful or who has disrespected you. Never regret being a good person to the wrong people. Your behavior says everything about you, and their behavior says everything about them.
