I have found over the years that one of the most challenging concepts to grasp for many individuals is that everything that’s around you in your life right now, both what you perceive as good or what you perceive as bad, you’ve attracted to yourself. Once you accept this concept it can be life transforming.
When you focus on stress, worry, resentment, frustration, anger, and other negative thoughts and emotions, you can rest assured that you will attract more of these negative emotions and experiences. Winston Churchill said you create your own universe as you go along. It’s important to feel good about the things going on in your life, the more you feel good, the more you attract the things in your life that will make you feel good. Focus on inspiring others as well. When your dreams are based on how you can improve the lives of others, the whole universe conspires to make your dreams come true.
When you talk to someone and ask how things are going in their life and they begin to ramble off all the negative things that is going on in their life, there is a very high chance you will get the same answer from them the next time you ask, this is not by coincidence. Neither is it a coincidence that every person reading this post has thought about a friend, who just so happened to contact them soon after, or have thought of a song in their head only to hear the song on the radio within minutes.
In discussing this concept in my psychology classes, I told my students that I will mention something that will manifest itself throughout the day. I mentioned a gorilla and asked that they spend just a few minutes thinking about the word. They were to email me immediately when any form of gorilla came to them that day or the day after. As always, I was bombarded with students who saw various forms of gorillas, gorilla glue, gorillas in movies, on commercials, etc. It never fails. Even many of you reading this now will experience some form of gorilla within a couple of days. I’ve used many different words for this classroom experiment.
Matthew 7:7-8 clearly points this concept out to us, “Ask and Ye shall receive. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receive; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” The universe is always obedient to your thoughts…..Always.
If you want to immediately begin to change your life around, start by making a list of things that you are grateful for. Gratitude will bring more into your life to be thankful for. Refuse to allow yourself to think about anything that’s going on in your life that you are not happy with. You must focus only on those things that you wish to experience, and you will. Energy goes where attention goes. Always keep in mind that whatever we think about and thank about, we bring about. Without fail, I start each morning with thanks.
You are the creator of your destiny. Regardless of what has happened to you in your life, regardless of your current situation or your age, the moment you begin to think properly you will transform your life if you allow yourself to do so….promise.
