Almost every successful person begins their journey with two beliefs: the future can be better than the present, and I have the power to make it so. There is a lot to be learned about one’s perspective. The smallest change in attitude can transform a life. It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you allow yourself to see. I firmly believe that a positive perspective and optimism go hand in hand. When you have the belief that you can do anything, you are already halfway there. The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them. Your perspective will either become your prison or your passport.
Be careful where you focus your attention. If you look at what you have in life, you’ll always have more. If you look at what you don’t have in life, you will never have enough. It doesn’t take a long time to change your perspective, change is instantaneous once you decide, but the problem with many people is that it may take a long time to decide to change.
We all have known the pessimist. The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. This mindset doesn’t allow one to better their future because unless you believe the future can be better, you are unlikely to step up and take responsibility for making it so. Albert Einstein said that we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used to create them. Life is not always a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes, playing a poor hand well. Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, either way, you’re right. Today will be a great day, if you’ve already decided that it will be.
